The 2025 PGA Tour season kicks off in Maui, Hawaii with The Sentry, formerly known as the Sentry Tournament of Champions, but which is no longer an actual tournament of champions. The field has been expanded to include all players who qualified for the second round of the 2024 FedEx Cup playoffs, plus those who won in 2024, leaving us with a group of 62 players (Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy will not be playing.) The event was granted Signature status in 2023, and the inclusion of the Sentry as one of the premier events on Tour makes sense. Despite going up against the final week of the NFL season, folks still love being transported to Hawaii, even if it's through their television screens. Outside of the beautiful vistas, the tournament usually delivers exciting finishes and opens up a wide range of outcomes given the magnanimous course set-up and scoring conditions.
