The PGA Tour heads to Cabo this week for a resort-style contest at El Cardonal at Diamonte Dunes. While this event has previously been hosted at the Mayakoba resort, I would not really spend any time looking at prior course history there, as El Cardonal plays in stark architectural contrast to the Greg Norman design. Mayakoba was one of the tightest, most accuracy-over-distance-biased golf courses on the course on the PGA Tour, while El Cardonal is the complete opposite, featuring the widest driving corridors on the entire PGA Tour.
